Browsercheck:
http://www.edv-ringhofer.de/knowhow/pc/security/browser  german site.

http://www.securityspace.com  shows a lot of reports.
Very interesting Page   http://www.securityspace.com/sprobe/probe.html  Fill in a URL. We will get informations about the Server Software and probably the operating system.

http://www.netcraft.com We get a history of the server. If there exist a history.

http://samspade.org has a lot of onlinetool, to get more informations for investiigate Server and Domains. Very interesting is the tool IP whois. Fill in a IP and you get the server or the network, the server is included. Keek in mind, that networks have sometimes total different namings, than the server.
Example: my domain is os2force.ch. The network ist often shown as cybernet.ch and the server can be shown as ADSL-213-200-226-50-cybernet.ch

You can filter spam. You can do this by blaklist. How to use it, see on the homepage of these links. Wether you can use these blacklists without server - i don't know. This are some of the Blacklist organisations.
There are some, but a t least two lists, that can bee very negativ.

The Dialup Connection Blacklist. I am on this list too, althogt i have a fixed IP. How come? The networkarea is a non reserved area. Most IP's are dynamic IP's. Most Spammmers use dialup connections. It is much harder to get them. But most people have a dial up connection. Filtering with a dialup list will probably lock out your frends.
Filtering with RFC ignorants will lockout the whole switzerland, because of bad domain registration. It hits me, but also ibm.ch, microsoft.ch, just every domain ending with ch or li. There are further mailers, ISP's, servers, a lot of software do just more then RFC says or dont do things that are in the RFC, but never used.
